Evenig program at Kenkävero Vicarage:
7-8 pm Reception of City of Mikkeli (free admission for congress guests)
From 8 pm a summer evening enjoying arts and crafts; including forging by blacksmiths, fabric printing, handcraft demonstrations. A delicious summer cuisine (drinks included). 75 EUR.

Kenkävero is Finland’s largest and most beautiful wooden vicarage, only a short distance from the city centre. Kenkävero shops have the biggest selection of Finnish design goods in Finland – beautiful fashion, jewellery, accessories, home furnishing, giftware and country fare. JUNE 16th 2009  
Outdoor garden party at Kyyhkylä manor from 7.30 pm. The area has been inhabited since the Stone Age. The rich history will be narrated throuhg different presentations. The evenig program includes traditional dancing (teaching provided!) in a genuine hay shack accompanyed by live music. Possibility to swim and visit a lakeside sauna. Social program

15th JUNE
The trip heads to Art Centre Salmela, situated approximately 40 km from Mikkeli in a valued village environment. The annyally organized exhibitions are one of the most important summer cultural events in Finland. Lunch is served in a charming summer restaurant. On the way back a place of special character is visited!

The Concert and Congress Hall Mikaeli
The Ifpra European Congress will be held in the Concert and Congress Hall Mikaeli, which is located on the shore of Lake Pankalampi, about 1 km from the city centre. Mikaeli is designed by a famous Finnish architect, Professor Arto Sipinen. For example Mikkeli Music Festival and Savcor Ballet take place in Mikaeli. www.mikaeli.fi

Government Square

The heart of Mikkeli is Government Square and the buildings around it, some in Empire and Jugend style. This square and its environs have been classified as being of national architectural importance.

Church Park

Together with Government Square, Church Park is classified as a cultural environment of national importance. It was first laid out in the 1830s and in 2003-2004 restored to the look of the 1930s and 40s.

Naisvuori – the city’s landmark

Naisvuori is a city landmark and a popular recreation area. The park, which now looks as it did in the early 1960s, was relaid in 2006.

Mikkelipuisto Park

Mikkelipuisto Park is an area at present under construction near the city centre. The aim is to make it the leading horticultural and nature tourism attraction in Eastern Finland and a popular recreation area for the local inhabitants.

Mikkelipuisto Park will be a quality, aesthetic and stimulating centre for visitors of all ages. The beautiful lake and ridge scenery combined with the Park’s products and services will provide information, pleasure, benefit and unique experiences both for users of the Park and for the companies involved.

Harbour
